JoJo & Gran Gran has gained further international recognition with a nomination in the Kidscreen Awards 2023.
The hugely successful children’s TV series won a Kidscreen award for Best Mixed-Media Series in 2022, not to mention numerous other award wins and nominations over the past few years. The show’s latest award nomination is for series two, again in the Best Mixed-Media Series category.
JoJo & Gran Gran is produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions in collaboration with our team here at A Productions for CBeebies.
A Productions worked on both series one and two, which aired in March this year, with the team currently working on series three. The show is inspired by characters created by Laura Henry-Allain MBE, celebrating that special relationship between a grandparent and a child.
The Kidscreen Awards are a high-profile celebration of excellence in children’s content, paying tribute to outstanding TV and digital media work that keeps kids and families entertained. Hundreds of entries are received from around the world each year.
Winners will be announced live at an awards ceremony on February 14 during Kidscreen Summit 2023 in Miami.
JoJo & Gran Gran has also just been shortlisted in the Best Pre-School Programme category of the Broadcast Awards 2023 and earlier this year won a Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Award in the Children’s category.
Katherine McQueen, joint managing director of A Productions, said: “What a year it’s been for JoJo & Gran Gran. We are so pleased to see this ground-breaking show gaining such widespread recognition, which is testament to the hugely talented team involved in its production.
“Telling the stories of the characters and communities portrayed in JoJo & Gran Gran in an authentic way has been absolutely core to our approach from day one. It’s wonderful to see it continue to strike a chord with so many children and families.”
