A Productions are looking for an experienced CG Supervisor to lead the CG department on an exciting new children’s animated TV series.
You will be the creative and technical backbone of our in-house team — ensuring every frame meets the highest visual standard while keeping the pipeline running smoothly across a multi-studio production.
Assets will be modelled in Maya, sculpted in ZBrush, and textured in Substance Painter before being brought into Unreal Engine for look development, shading, lighting, and rendering. Character rigs and animation are delivered by an overseas partner studio as FBX files and imported into Unreal for the lighting and render pass.
We are an award-winning animation studio based in central Bristol. Our success in creating engaging, original and award-winning content is made possible through the unique chemistry of the creative teams we build. This shared vision is underpinned by our focus on diversity and inclusion, staff wellbeing and ensuring an authentic voice across all our productions. Delivering a creative, inclusive work community that encourages collaboration, engagement and mutual trust is at its core.
• Creative oversight: Own the visual quality of all CG output — reviewing assets, lookdev, lighting, VFX, and final renders to ensure consistency with the show’s art direction and director’s vision.
• Asset creation team: Oversee the asset creation team across modelling, sculpting, and texturing — setting quality standards, reviewing work at key stages, and ensuring all assets are delivered pipeline-ready.
• Team leadership: Supervise the in-house lighting, render and VFX team. Provide clear direction, constructive feedback and mentorship to artists at all levels.
• Pipeline management: Oversee and optimise the production pipeline — from asset creation in Maya, ZBrush and Substance, through to Unreal Engine for shading, lighting, rendering and VFX.
• FBX import/export pipeline: Manage the hand-off workflow with our overseas rigging and animation studio. Ensure incoming FBX files integrate cleanly into Unreal and that any issues are caught and resolved efficiently.
• Cross-studio collaboration: Liaise closely with the overseas animation studio, producers, and the art department to align on schedules, technical specs, and creative direction.
• Technical problem solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues in Unreal, troubleshoot shader and lighting challenges, and keep the team unblocked and on schedule.
• 5+ years in CG animation production for film, TV, or games
• Prior supervisory or lead role on a production
• Strong Unreal Engine knowledge
• Experience with multi-studio or outsource pipelines
• Deep understanding of real-time lighting and shading in Unreal Engine
• Solid grasp of FBX import/export workflows and troubleshooting
• Lookdev and material authoring experience
• Clear communicator across technical and creative teams
• Calm under pressure with a solutions-focused mindset
• Experience working with remote or overseas studios
• Background in children’s TV or family entertainment
• Pipeline TD or scripting experience (Python)
• Familiarity with Ftrack or similar project tracking tools
