Monster Makes landing soon on CBeebies

Coming soon to CBeebies is Monster Makes, a burst of creativity for pre-schoolers hosted by CBeebies favourite Rebecca Keatley and the lovable Murphi, an animated monster with a penchant for inventive creations.

The new dual live-action and animation series is set to premiere on CBeebies on March 16. Fun and furry, Murphi’s simple ethos – that anyone can make something brilliant with a bit of monster magic – is at the heart of each episode.

Encouraging recycling and creativity, the show is commissioned by BBC Children’s and Education for CBeebies and produced by Terrific Television with animation provided by our team here at A Productions.

Katherine McQueen, managing director at A Productions, said: “A seamless blend of 3D and 2D animation with live action, Monster Makes is brimming with energy, a sense of fun and, of course, bucket loads of creativity.

“It was such a joy working on this production, bringing fun-loving Murphi to life and showing children that with a little bit of imagination and some everyday materials, they can create wonderful things.”

Murphi is created using a fusion of 3D CG animation and puppetry, which allows him to exist physically in his art studio while expanding into animated sequences when his imagination takes over. Murphi can even change shape into everything from a tissue box to a ball of wool.

Monster Makes received a 3-star Albert certification for season one, a measure of environmental sustainability credentials with recycled and reclaimed materials prioritised for props and builds, and repair and adaptation favoured over replacement.
