Sesame Street: The Nutcracker Starring Elmo and Tango has been selected to appear at Cartoons on the Bay, an international festival of animation, transmedia and meta-arts.
A Productions developed the animation and design look for the award-winning Sesame Street: The Nutcracker Starring Elmo and Tango for the nonprofit educational organisation Sesame Workshop.
The festive special streamed in the US in December last year on Cartoonito, the preschool block on HBO Max. It will air on PBS KIDS in 2023.
The production has been selected to appear in the International Showcase of the Pulcinella Awards 2023 in the preschool TV series (2-4 years) category. The festival takes place in Pescara, Italy, from May 31 to June 4.
The International Showcase offers a picture of the cultural, technological and industrial trends of the sector in the various geographic areas of the world. All professionals at the event will be able to view the content featured in the festival’s Digital Video Library.
The classic story of The Nutcracker is retold Sesame Street-style in this new animated special that follows Elmo and his puppy Tango on a fantastical adventure filled with new music and friends – where Tango speaks for the very first time!
Katherine McQueen, managing director at A Productions, said: “It’s fantastic news that Sesame Street: The Nutcracker is attracting international recognition and we congratulate all those involved in its production, including our hugely talented team, for creating something very special, which is sure to entertain young audiences for many years to come.”
