A Productions’ development producer, Katie Barba, is heading to the widely renowned Encounters Film Festival in Bristol this week.
This year, the short-film festival, which seeks to uncover new and emerging talent, celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Katie will be discussing how we unearth stories in different types of sources material, for example comics and graphic novels, joining a panel of other experts including Ana Emdin, former literary agent turned producer and founder of New State Pictures, and Greg Basterfield, head book buyer at Gosh Comics. They will also look at the processes involved in developing, adapting, and optioning IP for the screen.
The panel will be hosted by award-winning animation director, author and illustrator Tanya Scott.
Katie said: “I’m very much looking forward to attending Encounters Film Festival, an excellent opportunity to delve into the topic of how original IP-driven content is developed in the industry, as well as connect with a wide array of talent from across our creative community in Bristol and beyond.”
Sourcing Story: Art of IP Adaptation will take place on Thursday, September 25, at 1pm, at
Arnolfini in Bristol.
